I love to make fun, vibrant & bold wedding photographs that tell the true story of your wedding day. It’s all about creating natural and storytelling images and throwing in some cool portraits for couples who want to relax, enjoy their wedding day and not have to worry about their photographs as they are in safe hands.

Whether you call it candid, lifestyle or documentary, I love to photograph the moments that happen naturally during a wedding and I believe these moments tell the real story of the day and make every wedding special. There are traditions at weddings like cake cutting and group shots that I will of course capture for you, however, it’s the natural unplanned moments that really make each wedding unique. It’s all about documenting the small things just as much as the big things…the details, the smiles, the tears and the laughter.

It’s Your Day

Your wedding day is not a photoshoot, it’s a day to celebrate your love with your family and friends by your side. What I want you to remember about me after your wedding day, apart from the beautiful images, is that I was fun, relaxed and like a Cotton-Wool Ninja. I’m unobtrusive and manage to get those intimate moments without impacting your day.

I won’t boss you around and won’t ask for fake smiles. For 95% of the day, I’m capturing it as it unfolds and the other 5% is creating some epic & beautiful portraits of you both.

I think its important for you to see more than just the website photos when making a decision about your photographer, so here’s a slideshow from a recent wedding so you can see more of the kind of images I shoot and my style. All my couples get one of these slideshows made as part of their package and for me, this is super important, as it’s the first thing you will see after your big day. When it comes to your own slideshow, I want you to have a date night, grab a bottle and watch it together and relive the awesomeness.

Your slideshow is designed to tell the your story and consists of around 200-300 selected images from your day. Once you have digested yours, I will then send over your complete gallery with all the images in from your wedding including loads more candids, portraits, group shots and details.”

Pricing

I like to keep things simple so I only offer a single package which includes full coverage of your special day.

We start with a video chat to really get to know each other. I then want to capture the complete story of your day, so I will be there from the morning preparations right through until late in the evening when the dance floor is in full swing.

I then work a little magic to produce beautifully edited, professional photographs that you can treasure for a lifetime. You will then receive a highlight slideshow that is set to music. After that, you can expect around 700-1000 images delivered via your own online gallery where you can download all the photos and also share your amazing images with family and friends.

Engagement Shoots

As an optional extra, you can choose to book an engagement shoot, they are an excellent way for us to get to know each other, and get you guys comfortable in front of the camera, whilst getting some awesome pictures at the same time.

We keep it fun, relaxed & the resulting images are great to use on ‘save-the-date cards, websites & invitations.

They usually last around 1-2 hours, depending on how carried away we get chatting about your big day. You will receive an online gallery of high-resolution edited images for you to download or share online with friends.

Add a second shooter

For larger weddings or even for just those wanting that little bit more from their package, have a think about adding a second shooter. This allows me and the second shooter to capture both the bride and groom prep in the morning and document the entire day from two perspectives because after all, the wedding day is about both of you.

I have a select group of trusted photographers who I know will produce high-quality images in a style comparable to mine.

All the second shooter images are edited by myself to have that J S Coates magic added to them.

Printed Wedding albums

If I could give one bit of advice to all my couples, it would be to print your pictures. I know we live in a digital age, but nothing is more beautiful than holding a physical print of an image…Well, actually there is, holding an album full of your pictures.

I’ve tried to make creating albums as simple as possible. You pick the images via your online gallery and I get to work designing your contemporary bespoke beautiful wedding album. The quality of the albums are amazing., the cover is made from a leather-like material and you have loads of colours to choose from. The pages are thick professional photo paper/card and the print finish is just superb. Every album comes in a solid black box & a velvet bag for extra protection.

Remember, even if you decide not to go for an album, don’t let your image sit on a hard drive. Print them, let the world see them and how awesome you look.

FAQs

I want to tell the complete story of your day. This often means getting there early for morning preparations and staying until late. I don’t put a limit on my time and as Long as there’s still a story to be told, I will be photographing the hard-core dancers late in to the evening.

Yes, I work closely with a select few professional photographers. I only use trusted photographers that will produce work in the same style and with quality comparable to my own. I edit all the images from the day so they will all have the JS Coates Photography magic applied

Whilst I don’t put a Limit on how many images you will receive, on average I deliver between 700 and 1000 images from a wedding day. These are the best images that tell the story of your big day.

I aim to deliver your images between 5-7 weeks of your big day. Initially you will receive a slideshow which is a highlight reel that tells the story of the day. A few days later I send you the link to your online gallery where you can view, download and share all of your images.

Cards on the table, it would be lovely if you can BUT if you can’t then I’m more than happy to bring my own food.

Yes, I have public liability & professional indemnity. Proof can be provided.

You get a full print release with your images, so you can print from wherever you like. Alternatively, you can order prints directly from your online gallery. I also offer high quality albums which we can create together.

Having a pre-wedding shoot will not change the way I approach your wedding day. What it will do is ease any camera fears you may have and you will get to know the relaxed and fun way I shoot I aim to create natural photos with real smiles & Laughter. Many of my couples say they, or at least one of them, hate having their photos taken. I guarantee after a pre-wedding shoot you will feel much more relaxed about the pictures on your wedding day.

Yes of course. I suggest keeping the list down to a minimum for your own sanity as they can take up precious time where you could be drinking Prosecco 🙂

I cover the whole of the UK and further. Most UK weddings will not be subject to any additional travel expenses unless it is particularly far from the Midlands.

It is your day and if there’s something you would love to get a photo of, let me know. I send a questionnaire out before the wedding and there’s a place for you to list any specific group shots or anything else you would Llke.

Rest assured your contract will cover this however, I would have to be on my death bed to not turn up to your day 🙂 I’m also part of a large network of wedding photographers that can help in the case of an emergency, even at short notice.

Hey, I’m Jonathan and thanks for taking the time to read my brochure.

I’m a professional, award-winning wedding photographer and I adore my job. I get to spend the happiest days of my couples’ lives with them and that’s a pretty big honour. I get to spend every weekend at a party (all be it sober so images stay straight) and I get to create images that tell the story of these monumental occasions that I hope will be passed on through their families for years to come.

I’m married to the wonderful Emily and we have two super cute sons that run us both ragged, but we love them. I play acoustic guitar, sing and write songs, but that’s another story for another time.
