I love to make fun, vibrant & bold wedding photographs that tell the true story of your wedding day. It’s all about creating natural and storytelling images and throwing in some cool portraits for couples who want to relax, enjoy their wedding day and not have to worry about their photographs as they are in safe hands.
Whether you call it candid, lifestyle or documentary, I love to photograph the moments that happen naturally during a wedding and I believe these moments tell the real story of the day and make every wedding special. There are traditions at weddings like cake cutting and group shots that I will of course capture for you, however, it’s the natural unplanned moments that really make each wedding unique. It’s all about documenting the small things just as much as the big things…the details, the smiles, the tears and the laughter.
It’s Your Day
Your wedding day is not a photoshoot, it’s a day to celebrate your love with your family and friends by your side. What I want you to remember about me after your wedding day, apart from the beautiful images, is that I was fun, relaxed and like a Cotton-Wool Ninja. I’m unobtrusive and manage to get those intimate moments without impacting your day.
I won’t boss you around and won’t ask for fake smiles. For 95% of the day, I’m capturing it as it unfolds and the other 5% is creating some epic & beautiful portraits of you both.

Because it’s the very first look of your amazing day, and I want it to be special. Picture this: it’s date night, you’ve got your favorite bottle of something delicious, and you’re watching your wedding slideshow together, soaking up all the magic.
Each slideshow tells your story, featuring 200–300 handpicked images that capture the essence of your day. Once you’ve savoured your slideshow, I’ll send over your complete gallery with everything: candid moments, stunning portraits, fun group shots, and all those gorgeous little details you didn’t even know I caught.

I like to keep things simple, so I offer one all-inclusive package that covers your entire wedding day. No clock-watching, no awkward cut-offs. Just real moments, beautifully captured.
Pre-Wedding Catch-Up
A relaxed meeting or video call so we can chat through all the details, timelines, and the moments that matter most to you.
Full-Day Coverage (No Hour Limits)
There’s no set start or finish time. I arrive when you need me and stay well into the evening. I don’t vanish after the first dance. I stick around to capture the dance floor chaos and those late-night party vibes.
Your Date-Night Slideshow
The first thing you’ll receive is a 15-20min cinematic slideshow of around 350 images, set to music. Grab a bottle, dim the lights, and relive your day as your wedding story comes to life all over again.
Your Full Wedding Gallery
A beautifully curated online gallery of 800–1200+ images. I never cap my galleries. If there are more great moments, you’ll get them. Every image is edited in my signature style and ready to download and you can share the gallery with your guests too. You can even hide any images from people if you choose too.
Full Print Release
Your photos are yours. Download them, print them anywhere you like, and enjoy them forever.

Wedding Film – Hybrid Shooting
If a videographer isn’t part of your wedding plans but you’d still love to have some video memories from your day, my hybrid wedding film package is the perfect way to capture video memories without the fuss. Ideal for laid-back couples, it delivers a gorgeous 3.5–5 minute highlight film that tells the story of your day in a short, sweet, and unforgettable way.
Here’s the deal: while I’m photographing your wedding, I’ll also grab video clips of the fun and deliver you a heartfelt highlight film, set to music, that complements your photos and lets you relive the magic all over again. Find out more here

Engagement Shoots
As an optional extra, you can choose to book an engagement shoot, they are an excellent way for us to get to know each other, and get you guys comfortable in front of the camera, whilst getting some awesome pictures at the same time.
We keep it fun, relaxed & the resulting images are great to use on ‘save-the-date cards, websites & invitations.
They usually last around 1-2 hours, depending on how carried away we get chatting about your big day. You will receive an online gallery of high-resolution edited images for you to download or share online with friends.

Add a second shooter
For larger weddings or even for just those wanting that little bit more from their package, have a think about adding a second shooter. This allows me and the second shooter to capture both the bride and groom prep in the morning and document the entire day from two perspectives because after all, the wedding day is about both of you.
I have a select group of trusted photographers who I know will produce high-quality images in a style comparable to mine.
All the second shooter images are edited by myself to have that J S Coates magic added to them.

Printed Wedding albums
If I could give one bit of advice to all my couples, it would be to print your pictures. I know we live in a digital age, but nothing is more beautiful than holding a physical print of an image…Well, actually there is, holding an album full of your pictures.
I’ve tried to make creating albums as simple as possible. You pick the images via your online gallery and I get to work designing your contemporary bespoke beautiful wedding album. The quality of the albums are amazing., the cover is made from a leather-like material and you have loads of colours to choose from. The pages are thick professional photo paper/card and the print finish is just superb. Every album comes in a solid black box & a velvet bag for extra protection.
Remember, even if you decide not to go for an album, don’t let your image sit on a hard drive. Print them, let the world see them and how awesome you look.

What’s next?
If my approach sounds like what you want from your wedding photographer then I would love to have a video chat with you to hear more about your day. If it is possible we could always meet for a coffee/beer?
If all goes well after the meeting, I just ask for a £500 deposit to secure the date with the remainder of the balance to be paid 4 weeks before the wedding date.

Hey, I’m Jonathan and thanks for taking the time to read my brochure.
I’m a professional, award-winning wedding photographer and I adore my job. I get to spend the happiest days of my couples’ lives with them and that’s a pretty big honour. I get to spend every weekend at a party (all be it sober so images stay straight) and I get to create images that tell the story of these monumental occasions that I hope will be passed on through their families for years to come.
I’m married to the wonderful Emily and we have two super cute sons that run us both ragged, but we love them. I play acoustic guitar, sing and write songs, but that’s another story for another time. Music shaped my life and will always be a massive part of me and that’s probably why you will find me discreetly throwing shapes (triangle being the best of all shapes) across the dance floor as I’m snapping away at your wedding
